"Recognizing that catastrophic failure of electronics in an LED luminaire is a concern, the DOE recommends a new way to account for such failures in addition to the widely used L and B specifications." says the Industry News of June 7th, 2010.
A little further you can read: "Such failures would not likely be due to LED failure but rather to failed drive electronics, failed solder joint or other problem. A simple component such as an electrolytic capacitor can cause a catastrophic failure. "
Discover the FIRST and ONLY electrolytic capacitor FREE LED driver, HEICO Lighting™ LMPS-750:
While the life of LEDs can go up to 50k+ hours, they rarely fail and will most of the time outlast the electronic driver. One of the main reason, the use of electrolytic capacitors in the power supply greatly shortens their lifetime. We have developped an Electrolytic Capacitor FREE LED driver: LMPS-750. Not only can you extend the lifetime of your LED system, but this power supply has absolute overload immunity and an energy factor over 90%.
